OK, so I write a guide and travellers are buying it? How exactly does the payment process work?
As part of your sign-up procedure as a Local Vibe Guide writer, you are asked to enter your paypal email, which can be the same as used on the Vibe Guide, or a different one. You naturally need to sign-up with paypal also with this email. You also are given an account with the Vibe Guide, which you can see being credited with your share of all revenue from sales of your guide.
When you have more than $US20 in your Vibe account, you can apply for payment - on our side we batch process all payments requests at the end of each week, and then pay the amount requested into your paypal account. We effectively do a mass payment from our paypal account into the paypal accounts of all writers who have requested payment that week. So the money should be sitting in your paypal account at least one week after request - which you can withdraw into your bank account whenever you like!
When a traveller searches for a guide in a particular city, what determines the order in which available guides are listed?
We rank guides for each search using our unique VibeRank system, which is based on the number of times the guide has already been purchased, and the average rating given to it by previous buyers. So the more times a guide is purchased, and the higher its average rating, the more likely it will appear toward the top of search lists for each city. We also delete guides which, after due warning, have not been opened and reviewed by their writers within six months.
