Local Vibe Guide Privacy Policy

We respect your privacy, and will make every effort to follow the Australian National Privacy Principles in order to do so. Invading your privacy or using your information in ways you find objectionable is no way to do business. We have other ways of making money!

If you are really concerned about privacy issues, we hope to assure you by detailing our privacy guidelines below. We have tried to make this policy not too technical - but its legal stuff after all and so most of it is still boring. Anyway, read on...

How and why is information collected?

We naturally collect some information when you sign up as a local guru travel writer. We only collect the bare minimum needed so that you can have a unique identification on the site. We will seek more information in future when the payment function - to share revenue with you - is integrated into the site.

We ask for a unique user name, your email address, and details about your age, interests, and where you live.

Is the information secure?

We keep your info in a secure database, with a proprietary data format, which can only be read by us using our own tools. This data is unreachable by others on the Internet.

What we expect from you?

If you want to write and post a local travel guide, that's great. But we then assume you are happy for it to be made available online for others to read - after all, what's the point otherwise? By writing your travel guide, we also expect you to respect the privacy of others - we don't really want you to provide information about others in your community that may impinge on their privacy. Please only provide information about people and places where you think these people and places would be more than happy to receive some attention.

Also we expect you will not include photographs containing nudity, or obscene, profane, excessively violent, racist, harassing, sexually explicit or otherwise objectionable subject matter. The last thing we want is someone to pay to read your guide only to be offended by what they see and then complain to us and ask for their money back! If we think that is a serious risk, we reserve the right to take down your travel guide, and not engage your services.

For their own safety and privacy, Local Vibe travel writers should not include phone numbers, street addresses, or their last names in their travel guides. Apart from these restrictions, users should know information provided in guides may contain inaccurate, inappropriate, possibly offensive or sexually explicit material, and WEBFRIENDS assumes no responsibility or liability for this material.

If you become aware of misuse of the Services by any person, please contact us.

Your right to information, and feedback

Of course, you can generally access the personal information we hold about you. Indeed, if you are a travel writer, we encourage you to review your personal profile frequently to ensure that it's up to date.

We encourage feedback. If you have any ideas about how we can improve the website, or our privacy provisions, please contact us. If you find anything of offence on our website, we want to hear from you so we can review and delete the offending material if need be.
